1911 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Open Drive Limousine by J. Frank Cutter
Chassis Number: 1678
Registration Number: BP1513
1678 stareted Life as a Barker Landaulette was delivered to a Mrs Helen Fletchaer of Arundel in Sussex. The current original open drive body by J. Frank Cutter of Massachusetts was fitted to the chassis by noted early Ghost expert James Black of Lisburn.
This is a car that has had the full James Black treatment consiting of a total & comprehensive restoration of all things mechanical in the car. Needless to say it now runs like new as if it had just left the factory. The fully rebuilt engine starts easily with the slightest nudge of the starting handle once fuel pressure has been pumped up & mixture inducted into the cylinders. Most times the car starts off the advance/retard control once a few turns of the starting handle have been done indicating how well the engine has been set up.
The Original body is opulent to say the least with a stunning cloth & brocade interior to the rear & more workman like buttoned black leather to the drivers quarters. This is a brass radiator car and the rest of the car is festooned in brass wherever one casts ones eye including no less then 8 lamps to the front rear & sides.
Not much more need be said as this is a restoration to perfection with the car runniing & driving in a simply sublime manner. Indeed so well it drives that it is hard to grasp that this machine was made in 1911. Viewings are by appointment in Lisburn N. Ireland.
