1960 Velocette Venom
Frame Number: RS14198
Registration Number: 423XUV
Engine Number: VM4016
Fully restored from a low mile machine that had been stored for 40 years. This motorcycle has had just three former registered keepers from new & was found with under 20,000 recorded miles on the clock. The second owner purchased it in 1962 & rode it sparingly for the first 5 years before storing it for the next 40!!!
The third owner embarked upon a painstaking & meticulous restoration photographically documented. With the Motorcyle comes masses of invoices for engine work, plating services & assorted parts required to finish the restoration. Since then it has covered a scant couple of thousand miles briging the total up to Just over 22,600 miles from new.
The motorcycle rides beautifully; we put 60 smiling miles on it bringing it home for photography. The gear change is to the right with one up & three down. Front & rear brakes have been relined & are bedding in with the front brake being particularly effective. It is finished in traditional black with a gold accent stripe. The chrome fish tail exhaust is in superb order & really looks the part. An original well thumbed manual comes with the motorcycle. A LED voltage readout has been installed allowing one to keep an eye on the read out whilst riding.
This example has led a sheltered life in the hands of just four keepers from new. The second registered keeper held the bike from 1963 until 2004, when it passed to a dedicated Velocette enthusiast in Essex who carried out an extensive rebuild over five years. The Velocette Owners Club subsequently inspected the machine and confirmed its authenticity, describing it as a "very nice Venom, looks like a new bike."
