1934 SS1 (Jaguar) Open Tourer 20hp

Chassis Number: 247994

Registration Number: KV9740

An incredibly rare survivor in concours condition.  This car was discovered in Texas in a very dilpidated condition & a three decade long restoration was then perfomed upon it to bring it up to the standard we find it in today.  Over 20,000 hours were put into this car to make it simply the best ss1 in the world today.  When the engine was disassmbled & rebuilt the engine rebuilder reported two rattles in it.  This turned out to be the mummified remains of two rattle snakes that had at some stage slithered in & been unable to find their way back out.

This is a simply stunning car with winning Pebble Beach credentials to its name.  We will shortly be conducting a full photo shoot upon the car to our usual standards.  It invariably wins a prize whenever it is entered into a show or concours.

The car also comes by separate arrangement  with an incredible amount of period Jaguar related automobilia from the gargage where it has resided which apprears more like a shirne to Jaguar & its history.  It shares the garage with an XK120 built specifically for Sir William Lyons' Son with some unique modifications.  Please read the captions to some of the pictures below which will give an indication of the uniqueness of this car & the assorted SS automobilia & items that go with it many of which are simply unreapeatable finds.  SS Ink wells, Hip Flasks, Card Holders & cigarette booxes are all part if the cars history & make a huge difference when showing the car.   Sir William Lyons' sons XK120 is also available out of the collection, two pictures of which are shown on this listing.

Take note also of the extraordinary speedometer/rev counter  which is also calibrated to to give revs in third & 4th gear from the single indicator needle in addition to speed.  The original Petrol Bowser pump used to fill the car for 7 years when it was new in the 1930's also comes with the car.  It was retreived from Bill Woods Garage in Queensferry!!!
