1937 Rolls Royce Hooper 25/30 Sports Saloon

Chassis Number:  GAN37

Registration Number:  DUL597

The Geneva & Amsterdam Motor show car for Rolls Royce in 1937.  Rolls Royce themselves wanting to display the best car they could chose Hooper to body the car.  The chassis plate is the French version & the speedometer in both miles & KMH as befitting a car initially destined for the continent.

Sold by ourselves some 12 years ago to the current owners whom have used it extensively travelling regularly to both France & Italy in the car.  During this time it has been maintained on a no expense spared basis with some £40,000 having been put into the car to keep it in tip top conditon.  Most of the bills are from specialists such as Taylors of Chichester, Fiennes Engineering, Ghost motors & dudley garages.

The coachwork is that of a light & spacious sports saloon by Hooper who were the coachbuilders of choice to Royalty & were noted for building bodies of the highest possible standard.  The car is finished in gold over chocolate brown paintwork with the paint being in fine conditon all round.  To the interior is largely original cream leather with the front seat bases having been restuffed & recovered in matching cream hides.  A large sunroof slides open allowing for pleasant summer motoring.

The history is voluminous & well worth reading as it dates back to the 1960's when the car was owned by our late Queens' Surgeon Commander David Dalgliesh on the Royal Yacht Britannia.  It  covers expenditure by later owners including some £40,000 spent in the current ownership.  The car has proved utterly reliable with the current owners thinking nothing of taking it across the channel for leisurely drives to Rome & the south of France.  This year it was displayed at the Rouen classic car meet where it took pride of place next to the Kenya Ghost.

To sum up this is a well sorted  ready to go anyhwere car that has benefitted from  extensive maintenance & restoration work as & when required.

Viewings are by appointment in Kent.
