1954 Bentley R type Continental Fastback

Chassis number: BC-18-C

Registration Number: STC200

Body Number 5601

Purchased by the current family in 1980, this R type fastback has resided in a private collection of cars in the West of the UK for some 43 years.  The engine had a full rebuild including new pistons a couple of years before purchase for which bills are on file detailing the works including new Pistons & a rebore etc.  As a result the car is both powerful & fast exmplifying the moniker of Continental fastback.

The car was specified from new with the lightweight sports seats upholstered in lightly patinated tan leather along with light brown carpets.  All interior woodwork has also been removed & refinished to a high standard. The exterior paintwork is British Racing Green in good order thoughout.  The car comes with its original handbook & the boot area has leather luggage straps to secure suit cases during travel.  There is a second factory handbook with the car from chassis number BG-59-C.  Current indicated mileage is 59,614 at time of photography.  In 1984 the car had covered 54,012 miles so use from the collection has been very sparing.  The collection had its own in house mechanic who serviced & maintained this & the other cars.

The car is currently undergoing a service prior to sale to prepare it for the next owner.  Having driven a number of these over the years I can attest to the fact that this one drives exceptionally well & once serviced will be ready for extended long distance journeys.  It cruises effortlessly at well above the legal limit in this country.

The car took part in the 50 year Fastback anniversary at silverstone & has paperork related to this. A badge bar is affixed to the front of the car with the iusual de-rigueur badges in situ.  A battery cut off switch is found under the bonnet on the bulkhead.  A total absence of wear on the throttle pedal would indicate this to be a low mile car & it certainly has a taut tight feel to it on the road.
