1898 Locomobile/stanley Steam Car Replica.
A replica in the style & spirit of early steam cars such as those from Stanley & Locomobile.
This is a fully functional working example that is simple to drive with just an accelerator, a brake pedal & tiller steering.
The burner has been configured to run on Diesel fuel making for easy clean operation with a fast 10 minute warm up time. 70 litre water taks are fitted allong for a 12 or so mile range prior to water fill ups. The diesel tank is installed inside hte wicker basket to the rear of the car.
All the mechanical items are round under the drivers seat including the on off stop cocks etc. An original unit was used as the template to make theis replica which has been disassembled & recreated in authentic detail.
This is an ideal item for collections & museums & benefits from being fully runniing & very easy to operate. It chuffs along the road in comparative silence emitting a plume of steam underneath to mark its progress. Speeds of close to 20MPH are attainable. The brakes have been upgraded to hydraulic items to provide moren stopping power.
