1936 Rolls Royce 25/30 Barker sports saloon
Chassis number: GRO65
Registration Number: DYK488
This sports saloon was purchased by the current owner in 2017 from a deceased estate where the car had been in long term lady ownership in yorkshire. The documents on file record the same family ownership from at least 1985 until 2017. The car recently benefitted from a new water pump and new tyres all round. Some period pictures of the car were found in the glove box & a set of Rolls Royce build sheets comes with the car.
This is a low mile car with very little wear to the brake, clutch & accelerator pedals. The steering is taut & play free & the suspension taut yet supple with no rattles. The car turned 100,000 miles as we drove it home to our showroom.
The interior of the car has been beautifully re-trimmed in pale blue hide with a real quality job being done. The woodwork & instrumentation are all original & includes a Philco radio set along with its original manual. Exterior paint is off white & in good order.
The engine is silent & powerful. Once warm one may be forgiven for thinking the engine has stopped altogeter once the car is at rest as it is so quiet. Oil pressure is good & it runs cool at around 70 degrees. The one shot system is connected & working well.
The coachwork by Barker, a company renowned for their quality, takes the form of a sports saloon with division. It is a beautifully proportioned body looking good from any angle. Up front there is ample room for taller drivers such as myself. Modern period looking indicators have been unobtrusively fitted to the front & rear bumpers.
The car was clearly well looked after during the previous several decades of ownership but came from the estate sale with no paperwork for the new interior & mechanical work. It is abundantly clear however that the car has been maintained without regard to expense as it runs so beautifully.
Driving a low mile example such as this is really a pleasure & a great introduction to Rolls Royce motoring exuding both grace & style. The boot is very capacious allowing for several cases & additional luggage to be strapped to the fold open boot lid if required.
