1936 Delahaye 135M Chapron 3 position Drophead
Chassis number: 47390
Registration number: XVV 117
This wonderful Chapron Bodied Delahaye is part of a prominent Austrian collection of top quality cars we have been tasked to sell. Previously under long-term Spanish ownership; This car resided in a southern Spanish collection prior to being purchased in Barcelona from the previous owner of some 2 decades.
The coachwork is by noted Parisian builder Henri Chapron & takes the form of a stylish three position drophead. The car is finished in immaculate three-tone pale grey paintwork in a manner designed to accentuate its curvaceous body lines. To the interior is brand new cognac coloured leather along with matching carpets. The fine vertically grained woodwork has also been removed & refinished. A full quota of period instrumentation is in its appointed place in the dash board.
Under the bonnet, the car is very tidy with a lusty six cylinder engine fuelled by triple carburettors. It starts readily & pulls strongly as might be expected from the multi-carb setup. The engine note is fruity to say the least & the car has a really sporty feel to it with the triple carb set up & has a very good turn of speed to it.
Under the current ownership the car has been thoroughly gone though & a host of small imporvements made. It is a real pleasure to drive & represents the quintessential French Grand Routier at its finest.
