1936 Derby Bentley 4.25 Litre Eddie Hall Race car.

Chassis number: B51JY

Registration number: DYO883

Built by Bob Petersen at the behest of the current owner who desired to create an exact copy of the Eddie Hall car prepared to contest the cancelled Le Mans race in 1937.  This car has been beautifully constructed with impeccable attention to detail & done on a money no object basis.

Massive bills come with the car minutely detailing the in excess of several hundred thousand pounds that have been spent upon it. A letter comes with the car from the Bentley Drivers club stating: "We have recently examined this 4.25 litre Derby Bentley which was sold according to our records  by Bentley Motors Ltd in June of 1937.  The chassis has been restored to a very high   standard indeed.  The aluminium body is an exact copy of that fitted to the extensively raced 4.25 derby car by the famous Eddie Hall.  The attention to detail is quite extraordiary."

The car is quite simply one of the best driving & fastest Derby Bentleys I have come across.  It drives superbly & has effortless acceleration given the very very light coachwork & perfect state of tune.  In 2014 the car was entered in the Pre War classic 24 hours endurance race at the Portugese Portimaio Circuit & duly won the event beating all other comers; an impressive achievement indeed.  It has also taken part in an assortment of other events where it has aquitted itself well.

Please note that this is not a race car.  It is a fully sorted high speed touring road car suitable for rallies, continetal jaunts, or merely blowing out the cob webs on your favourite B road. (Petersfield to Chichester comes to mind??).  It is easy to drive & very very useable in the manner one might drive any Derby Bentley.

The car comes to us with numerous pictures of its restoration & build, along with the all important FIA papers for racing.  The body is a work  of art constructed from Aluminium throughout with a beautifully tapering downswept rear which conceals an oversize fuel tank giving huge endurance &  also a useful storage area.  It is a gorgeous body to behold particularly from the back which is all you are likely to see of it if you encounter iit on the race track.

The car is finished in British Racing Green paintwork with particularly comfortable green leather seats to the interior.  The drivers seat is fully adjustable allowing those over 6ft such as myself to easily fit in & drive it.  The windshield folds down & the two glass side wind deflectors handily convert to aero screens.  An Aluminium cowl attaches over the Passenger seat when not in use giving a very streamlined effect to the whole ensemble.

The car is perfectly set up for historic racing, comes with its papers in place & is in fact a golden key to historic racing event.
