1938 Rolls Royce Phantom III Sedanca by H.J. Mulliner.

Registration Number: EXC200

Chassis Number: 3CM119

Under the previous ownership for over 20 years; During this time, the car has had an engine rebuild with 12 new pistons, new liners, new cam shaft etc & also a new Carburettor. The tappets are hydraulic units as fitted when new. As a result, the engine runs in uncanny silence as only a V12 can do. All the major work has been done making this a mechanically reliable car with none of the worries associated with engines that have not undergone refurbishment.

A rear exhaust box complete with insulation and heat shield has just been fitted. The engine runs cool at 70 to 80 degrees. Oil pressure is 25PSI under load & 18 at idle.

The drivers leather seats were re-upholstered by Gary Wright of Milton Keynes some years ago including the carpets & door cards. The rear compartment is still original in cloth with a few imperfections though a new carpet was also fitted when the new front carpet was fitted.

Twin foot rests fold out of the bulkhead as do a pair of occasional seats allowing for 7 to travel in comfort. All doors close with a confident clunk and all windows also operate correctly. All instruments and lights in the dashboard work where interestingly there is an original internal windscreen wiper fitted into the dashboard which has been disconnected.

The Sedanca opening operates well and when driving with it open gives the impression of driving a large sports car. The metal roof centre slides backwards followed by the two sedanca arms that then stow behind a vanity panel. Easily opened & closed, sturdy latches secure it when closed. Paintwork is sand over black & in good presentable lightly patinated order.

This Rolls Royce Phantom 3 won the Touring Class for P III at the annual RREC ralley in 2004. It has taken part in The New Years Parade through London many times from Parliament Square to The Ritz and on one occasion led the parade directly behind the Lord Mayor.

There is a full kit of original tools in the tool tray within the boot lid and with larger tools under the front seats. In 2008 Aston Martin transported it to the Furka Pass in Switzerland to recreate the Goldfinger scenes for 5 days, It isn't the Goldfinger car but has a passing resemblance. It appeared in a tv programme called Classic Gear which charted the events on the Furka Pass plus write ups in Octane magazine and The Telegraph Motoring section.

Fastidiously maintained by the previous owner, the engine oil and filter have been changed regularly every 6 months with sump and tappet filters being cleaned The tyres are not very old and the spare brand new. The car is in very fine order & has a go anywhere feel to it. It runs easily in modern traffic at 60MPH in unruffled silence.

We sold this car a couple of years ago to Swizeralnd so it is currently on Swiss plates with Swiss taxes paid.  It may be viewed there by appointment.
