1935 Bentley Petersen Lemans Tourer

Chassis Number: GYD56

Registration Numbner: GU8514

A superb Petersen creation built in the style of the 1930 Bentley Lemans team car.   The basis of the car was a pre-war Rolls Royce 20/25 chassis.  Into this was inserted a 4.9 litre straight six Bentley engine sourced from a Bentley S1  during the build process.  Needless to say the car goes exremely well with a serious turn of performance far in excess of the Cricklewood cars.  The engine was rebuilt/overhauled and a new clutch fitted at 23,000 miles (the odometer currently reads 38,000 miles).

The best part about this car is that it is well patinated with slightly worn leather & a very faded hood bag etc giving it a really vintage authentic feel.  The car is equipped with a Laycock overdrive making it very relaxed at speeds far in excess of those allowed in this country.  A switch on the dash board activates power steering making the car fingertip light at low speed manoeuvers. When turned off the steering reverts to non powered & has good feel to it whilst remaining light at speed. The mark VI sourced Bentley gear box is a pleasure to use with synchromesh on the top three gears & frankly changes gear like a modern car.

A full length faded black hood easily erects for inclement motoring.  With the hood down the windshield may be folded flat & the side wind deflectors then unbolt & become aero screens.  A haldex trip meter is installed on the dash for regularity trials & help with navigation etc.  The dash board is festooned in typical Lemans Bentley style with a plethora of switches & gauges mounted in the turned aluminium dash board.  A full set of instructions telling which switch does what comes with the car.

The car has been used on a variety or rallies in Italy & other places where it has perfomed flawlessly.  It starts instantly & is very very easy to drive compared to an original W.O. Bentley allowing for drama & worry free long distance motoring whilst still being of 1935 origin.

In stock with us now, it is being freshly serviced ready for the next owner to enjoy.  The Petersen cars enable enthusiasts to enjoy the 'Vintage Bentley' experience with the additional benefits of more modern technology and improved materials.
