Pristine restored condition & showing just 54,000 miles on the odometer. This Skyliner retractable was purchased in the USA after an exhaustive search by the current onwer who purchased & imported it. It comes with full restoration history & a wealth of period paperwork right down to a promotional coffee cup printed for the launch of the 1958 model year cars. Being a 1958 it is the rarest of the production years & moreover comes with a host of extras not often found including the sought after continental kit & in dash 45 record player which still works beautifully. Difficult to believe, but in 1958 you could rent one of these from Avis car Rental no less.
The car is finished in its original colours of red & cream giving it a striking appearance. The roof mechanism is a work of art with the rear lid flipping open & the entire roof then disappearing in to the cavernous void underneath it. There is even a separately walled off luggage are in the centre of the under deck area alllowing for suitcases to be stowed.
To the interior is white vinyl with red cloth inserts. The dash is pure 1950's Americana at its finest. The story continues under the bonnet with a simply immaculate engine bay detailed to show standards & indeed the car has been shown & won assorted prizes.
Please do take time to read the 3 page diatrabe on the car & its restoration from the previous onwer. He trailed it to shows & only ever drove it 350 miles or so. The new owner however believes in using his cars so has driven it far more during his tenure on local jaunts.
The proportions of this car are simply vast with comfotable seating for 6 people plus luggage. Lowering the roof always attracts a crowd as it is a magnificent thing to behold. The rear deck flips up & the front edge folds out. The entire roof then lifts up & folds into the recess before the rear lid folds down presenting a finshed look to the whole ensemble. A thick paperowrk file comes with the car.
