1951 Jaguar Mark V 3.5 Litre Drop Head Coupe Left Hand Drive
Chassis number: 647314
Registration Number: AH-32-69 (Holland.)
Under recent ownership after an estate sale; this car has had signifiacant upgrades to put it in tip top driving order whilst preserving its original patina in the paintowrk & woodwork etc.
Recent works include a rebuild of the brakes, upgrade to electronic ignition, fitting of twin K & N Air filters to replace the original unit that comes with the car & also adjustable power steering was fitted allowing the current onwers wife to regularly drive & enjoy the car.
This is the bigger 3.5 litre engine with the car being supplied new to the USA. It was imported to Holland some years ago & has been regularly but sparingly used in the current ownership. The car is Dutch registered so no european taxes need be paid.
The exterior is older black paint which presents well, albeit with a few minor marks in different locations. To the seats is red leather thoughout. Woodwork is all original faded & matt finished burr walnut. A partial set of original tools is found in the fold open boot lid. Door cards are also dark red & in fine order.
I have to stress how well this car drives. The gear box is easy to use with good synchromesh on all four speeds. The power steering makes the car finger tip light & allows one to deftly place it in tight parking situations etc. It can be adjusted for weight & feel on a knob under the dash board. The car starts readily & has very good performance in modern traffic. Utterly reliable, the car did not miss a beat on the journey to our showrooms from southern Holland with the roof down the entire journey.
The hood is covered by a hood bag when down. Erecting & lowering it is an easy task for a single person & can be done quite quickly. The rear window is a zip in affair in glass & allows for good ventilation when running with the roof up.
A host of manuals & books come with the car along with some papers from its early years. As a whole the car runs beautifullly & is at home in modern traffic on motorways, The engine has plenty of perfromance, pulling well in all gears with good oil pressure & running cool even on hot days in traffic. I had forgotten just what a pleasure these Jguar Mark V's are to drive over long distances with a very modern feel to them & a spacious comfortable interior.
