1927 Humber 12/25 Tourer

Chassis number: 12450

Registration number: WB8273

An utterly original car "dans son Jus" with original leather seats & all the original fittings down to the door check straps.  This according to the Humber club is the car by which others may be judged.

Simply put; the car is a time warp having been owned by an engineer for over 50 years during which time it covered a scant 10,000 miles.  A mass of Sequential MOT certificates come with the car to attest to this. The car even has original fold away side screens that fit into recesses in the doors.

The body of the car is utterly straight & benefits from having cleverly recessed door hinges.  The only deviation from standard is an SU carburettor fitted for a little more power & ease of starting but the original unit comes with the car & may be easily refitted.  The orginal hoodd is intact & useable albeit somewhat faded from the passage of time.

I have to say this is one of the best starting vintage cars I have ever had.  The slightest touch on the starter button sets her running even from stone cold.  On the roady the car performs well at B road speeds & is a simple delight to drive.  The engine is an 1800cc unit with 4 speed gear box & 4 wheel brakes making it a very useable car indeed. 45 to 50 MPH is its natural cruising gait.  A cone type clutch connects engine to gear box.

A total of 3006 examples of the 12/25 were made in 4 different body styles starting in 1924 & finishing in 1927 making this a late production model.  The 1795cc engine is overhad inlet & side exhaust valve.  The 4 speed gear box is mounted on a common bed plate with the engine obviating the need for a cardan type shaft.

The car sits on cast artillery wheels shod with good newish tyres.  A Boyce Motometer temperature gauge sits atop the radiator.  You really have to come & see & drive this car to appreciate the time warp quality & how it has withstood the test of time.  Assorted rally plaques on the dash dated from 1956 from evesham, Blenheim palace, Luton Hoo & Woburn Park attest to its previous care & ethhusiast ownership.

We will be further photographing it upon its arrival next week.
