Forming part of A prominent Austrian collection of top quality high end cars that we have been tasked to sell.  Viewings are in Austria near to the Worthsee.

This was the personal car built for personal use of  deceased world renowned Bentley specialist & repairer Richard Cresswell of VBE restorations.

XR1616 Started life as a 3 litre speed model.  In post war years it was dismantled & stored with a view to future restoration prior to being acquired by Richard Cresswell in 1991 for a strong £65,000.  The original engine was missing so it was decided to rebuild the car in the form of a 4 1/2 litre model similar to the 1928 LeMans winning car using an engine bored out to 5.3 litres.  The engine was built up from an assortment of original & new parts with an emphasis on performance.

The car first ran in its current guise in 1996 & in september of 2000 won its class in the classic maraton rally across europe.  Since then it has been the subject of assorted magazine articles & has been campaigned at numerous events.  It is an extremely fast car with particularly light steering & vivid performance.  Indeed it is the quickest 4 cylinder W.O. I have driven by some margin.  Recent successes include: Classic Marathon 2000, 1st Vintage car, 2004 Rallye des Alpes 3rd place, and 2nd fastest at the 2016 BDC MIRA Sprint.  This would be an ideal Peking to Paris car.

Well documented the car comes with a set of FIVA papers.  In his comparison test of 4 vintage Bentleys including a blower in Classic Cars Magazine 2012 John Simister said: "Vintage cars don't come more useable than this & given the utterly engaging and light footed verve of Cresswell's unblown 4 1/2, I'd have to say 'one just like this please'",

We didnt bother to erect the roof during our photo session & won't sell it to anyone who wants to put it up.  The car has all the LeMans details one might expect.  Large capacity fuel Tank, quick fill caps for Radiator & Fuel Tank, finned brake drums, driving lights, etc etc etc.  Copious notes come with the car detailing the assorted modifications done over the last two decades to make the car absolutely as good as it can be.

This is a full on Mr Toad car and most certainly not one for a purist.  It is however a fast reliable & as well sorted as possible Vintage Bentley ready for rallies & events with no money needing to be spent.  In the current collection it has been maintained without regard to cost.
