1921 Talbot-Darracq V20 Tourer.

Chassis number: 35959

Registration number: EL1686

Sold in 1962 as part of the renowend Sword Collection.  Since that time this rare Talbot has had vast money spent upon it totalling close to £50,000 pounds.  Most recently a new clutch was fitted & installed by ourselves.

The car is thus in mechanically close to new condition whilst having a very original & patinated interior.  We have debated giving it a thorough clean & tidy up, but by the same token have decided not to & leave this as a choice for the next owner to do or not to do as he sees fit.

The car is a pleasure to drive with an easily mastered 4 speed gear box.  Changes are easy to effect both up & down the gear box.  The car starts readily & runs beautifully.  45mph or os is its cruisng speed quite similar to a 20hp Rolls Royce.  Only a handful of these rare Talbots survive so you are unlikely to see another on the road.

The car has a recent high quality black mohair hood installed; easily erected or lowered by one person.  To the dash is a C.A.V. switch plate with ammeter & dynamo/lights control switches.  An original autovac feeds fuel to the Zenith Carburettor.  Dunlop Cord beaded edge tyres are fitted to the four corners mounted on respoked wooden artillery wheels.

Reams of paperwork come with the car detailing the extensive works done to engine, gear box, axles, differential etc.  The engine is a 3 litre unit which pulls well & is content to chuff along in any gear.  A diary comes with the car detailing a trip to from London to Paris & back which the car perfomred reliably & with ease.  Indeed the car has a strong "go anywhere" feel to it as a whole.  The yellow & brown paintwork suits it well & has clearly been done in recent years being in fine order.

The car is thus ready for immediate use being mechanically sound & bearing a lovely patina of age.
