Chassis no: S178PM
1927 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Town Car Sedancalette.
Chassis number: S178PM
Registration number: BF8086
Chassis S178PM was delivered to its first owner, an E.J. Dunn of Elmira New York on 27 January 1927. It was fitted with an imposing Brewster towncar body, which the chassis carries to this day. The particular style was called St. Stephen, and the number of the body was B5057. Sometimes referred to as a Sedancalette, both the rear Landaulette portion opens as does the front Sedanca part. The quality of these Brewster bodies has to be seen to believed & is far better then many of the lesser european equivalents & as good as the best from the likes of Barker & Hooper.
This car had a full major mechanical & body off restoration a few years ago & has covered few miles since. A file comes with the car detailing the extensive works undertaken including the body off the car & the engine completely dismantled. As a result the car is in like new order throughout. The engine starts instntly & runs in silence. The steering is light & direct; the brakes powerful & sensitive.
To the exterior is Prussian blue paintwork over black in unblemished condition & to show standards. The roof is of black Japanned lether & again is in like new condition. Correct leather gaiters cover the springs fore & aft. Twin side mounted spares adorn the running boards.
To the interior is black hide to the drivers quarters along with matching black carpets. The rear is trimmed in grey cloth along with royal blue carpets making the interior a welcoming & comfortable place to be.
It is always a pleasure to handle a car that is in faultless condition as this car is & needing nothing whatsover doing to it. This Phantom took pride of place in the recently disbursed Frederiksen collection & is now ready for the next chapter in its life.
