Chassis no: 5919M
1931 Sunbeam 18.2hp 2.3 litre Drop Head Coupe.
Chassis number: 5919M
Registration Number: GP8268
Under the current ownership for the last 15 years, this Sunbeam has had major works undertaken to it during that time. Th engine is a long legged 6 cylinder unit that was rebuilt in 2003 by Marque Specialist Bill Barrot. As a result it runs beautifully pulling strongly in all gears & well able to run in modern traffic conditions.
The body takes the form of a 2 door drop head coupe with dickey allowing for carriage of 4 people. In 2012/13 the car had a full repaint in British Racing Green over black. At the same time to address structural issues, the body panels were removed & new ash framing let in where needed; a major job performed by by David Brown Vintage & Classic Restorations Ltd.
In 2014 the interior was redone with new hides throughout in dark olive green allied to sage green carpets making for a lovely & period looking interior. The original wood dash is extant & fitted with its full quota of instrumentation. The car sits on wire wheels that are shod with 4 excellent tyres. A black mohair hood easily erects for inclement conditions.
To sum up, this is an enthusiast owned car that wants for nothing & has had major expendiutre performed upon it during the last ownership. These early Sunbeams are absolute quality cars, ranking close to Rolls & Bentley in build quality. They are rare, beautiful & superb to drive.
