1933 Derby Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Park Ward Sports Saloon

Chassis number: B-124-FB

Registration number: EZ1221

Under the current ownership for over 23 years; this is a very early Derby Bentley  having been produced in late 1933.  This car was purchased in very very original condition with the engine having been rebuilt just prior to purchase.  Being an early car the body is of very light & of aluminium as opposed to the later steel ones produced by Park Ward En Masse.

The car runs beautifully with a silent engine that starts instantly & pulls strongly.  Aside from the mechanics which have all been done, the car is about as original as one might find.  It has very old patinated paint in its original colour of black.  To the interior is heavily patinated yet very serviceable brown leather with original brown carpets.  The dash board is exactly as it left the factory with a full quotient of instrumentation.  The large sunroof slides open easily allowing for semi alfresco motoring.

The indicated mileage is 44,000 which we have to assume is at least 144,000.  The current owner stored the car mostly, making very sparing use of it during his tenure as he preferred to drive his more spacious & opulent Hooper bodied Rolls Royce 20/25.  Thus it has covered 5000 or so miles during his tenure with 200 miles being covered in the last 4 years.

We are servicing the car to make it ready for sale.  I have to stress how well this car drives & how quick it is.  At 3000 rpm it is doing 60 MPH effortlessly.  It is far faster then many 4.25 litre Derbies wearing heavier coachwork that we have sold.  Its slightly oily rag appearance commends it well to the preservation section of any events & it would suit a retired Colonel or similar as oppsed to a new money type looking for new & shiny.
