1936 Riley Merlin Saloon

Chassis number: 66M1917

Registration number: 694YUB

This is an absolutely delightful example of Riley's Merlin presented in well restored condition and boasting a lightweight chassis as used in competition Riley's of the era with the same engine.

First registered on the 26th July, 1936 and with only four keepers since, it was purchased by the last owner in 2012 as a running car and taken to Classic Motors of Wembury in Devon who undertook a full restoration of the car.

Work carried out included sandblasting and zinc priming of the chassis, body fully restored, the top end stripped for examination and the head de-coked and pressure tested, the interior fitted with new high quality red leather with genuine alcantara seat backs and correctly pleated door cards, new headlining, all bright work rechromed, a new wiring loom fitted with genuine new Lucas lighting, five new tyres and new inner tubes and much more besides.

The restoration has just been completed and a new MoT test performed, with further documents including a V5 document and a large history file. Finished in charming two-tone paintwork with the aforementioned contrasting red hide interior, this is perhaps one of the finest Riley saloons on the market and offers fantastic value for money when compared to similar models, especially considering the £40,000 restoration.
