Chassis no: B155AE
1934 Derby Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Vanden Plas Style Tourer.
Chassis number: B155AE
Registration number: AV6363
A really beautiful car coming to us in particularly good order. The post-war body is to a Vanden Plas design being an open tourer with cut away doors. The car comes to us with bills for a full engine rebuild & numerous works too many to detail from an assortment of leading specialists including Milford Vintage Engineering of Scotland & Sergeants of Goudhurst. As a result, the car is wanting for nothing & in particularly fine condition. Under the last ownership, some £27,000 has been spent on the car & a further £30,000 is on file from the prior owner.
The car is resplendent in Burgundy over black paintwork with the paint being in excellent condition. To the interior is perfect maroon hide complimented by maroon carpets. The hood is of black mohair & erects easily. Mechanically the car is spot on having had the all important new cylinder head fitted to the rebuilt engine. New rear axle ratios have been fitted which when combined with the overdrive unit previously installed makes for a very relaxed & long legged driving experience well able to run with & indeed pass modern traffic.
The engine bay is tidy & well detailed. Four good tires are mounted to the wire wheels retained by octagonal Bentley spinners. The spare is an external boot mounted item. Modern belts are fitted for the front occupants in a nod to modern safety standards. The dash is of polished timber & has the usual period requisite instrumentation in situ. The car is particularly rakish with a low letter box style windscreen that folds down revealing twin aero screens for an authentic "bugs in the teeth" driving experienece.
The car comes with a good paperwork file detailing the works done to it. Also present are a now obsolete set of Ministry of Transport certificates dating back the 1980's & attesting to regular sparing usage between 40,000 & the current 71,000 indicated miles.
